    The Mississippi Delta is home to fertile soil that's excellent for growing crops. It was made that way by enslaved African Americans, who owned some of that land after Emancipation.

    The Mississippi Delta is home to fertile soil that's excellent for growing crops. It was made that way by enslaved African Americans, who owned some of that land after Emancipation. Now most of that farmland is owned by white people again, mainly corporations. A new Atlantic article explores what happened, and how black people were systematically cheated out of their land.
