Central American Apparel may not have the same ring as American Apparel. But it may be the reality for the LA-based clothing company in the near future. A Canadian company called Gildan Activewear wants to buy American Apparel, which would mean 3500 southern California workers would be laid off, and production would relocate to Central America and the Caribbean.
