The Man Booker Prize announced its long list today, and it includes American writers for the first time. Police officers are writing candidly in online message boards about the case of Eric Garner, who died after being put in a chokehold by NYPD officers. From 2003 - 2009 Rhode Island inadvertently legalized indoor prostitution. Two researchers studied the impacts and found that fewer rapes happened across the state. And finally, two of the world’s greatest ballet dancers appear this weekend at Orange County’s Segerstrom Center.
