Film looks at lasting trauma from China's One Child Policy

For decades, China limited the number of children families could have to just one. The One Child Policy was implemented in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Filmmaker Nanfu Wang was born in 1985 in a small village in China. After having a child of her own in the U.S., she returned to China with her child and began to explore the government policy that left an indelible mark on her family and generations of Chinese. Wang uncovered a much more harrowing personal and national trauma caused by this government campaign.
