GOP Debate Roundup, Theranos, and 'The Witches: Salem, 1692'

Last night's GOP debate was a more raucous affair than the first two. Sometimes the moderators seemed barely in control of the proceedings. There were several testy exchanges among candidates trying to raise their profile and damage their opponents.

Then, Theranos' mission is to offer fast and cheap blood testing to the public. Founder Elizabeth Holmes is the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world. But the company that helped make her rich is under investigation by the FDA and there's been a recent spate of stories questioning the accuracy of the blood tests that Theranos offers.

Next, in 1692, the Massachusetts Bay Colony executed 14 women, five men, and two dogs for witchcraft. Stacy Schiff's new book, The Witches: Salem, 1692, intimately explores that dark time period.

Finally, a fundamental law of the Internet is Don't Feed the Trolls. In other words, don't engage with people who try to get a rise out of you online. The annual SXSW Festival in Austin Texas, seems to have missed that lesson.
