A gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 early Sunday morning at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando. The victims include a college student, a UPS worker, and a bouncer who’d moved to Orlando to help her mother and grandmother. Pulse was a place of refuge for the LGBTQ community. We’ll discuss how all over the country, gay bars serve as sanctuaries for people like Dave Cullen, who happens to be an expert on mass shootings.

Also, unsurprisingly, the presidential candidates reacted differently to the shooting, which is the deadliest mass shooting in American history.

Next, the new novel by Adam Haslett titled Imagine Me Gone, is a powerful story of a family trying to cope with mental illness.

And finally, the gunman in the Orlando shooting used an AR-15 semiautomatic assault weapon. The AR-15 has been used in other mass shootings.
