She touted the highest graduation rate ever for the district, but education advocates question whether the numbers are inflated. Meanwhile, one group is suing LAUSD over how it spent $450 million set aside for high-need students. Also, over half of Americans think raising taxes for the rich is a good idea, and historically it’s proven to be a good way to remedy inequality. So why is the task of raising taxes so difficult? Next, Green Party leaders held their convention this past weekend and nominated Jill Stein for president. Should the party be taken seriously this election? Then, since the Great Recession the economic recovery has been sluggish and uneven for some. Like many homeowners in Las Vegas, one of the cities hardest hit by the subprime mortgage crisis.
