    Among the casualties of the Syrian civil war are several journalists who were captured by militants. Theo Padnos was captured in 2012 in Syria. After nearly two years of imprisonment and torture, Padnos was freed. A new documentary, Theo Who Lived, tells his story.

    Among the casualties of the Syrian civil war are several journalists who were captured by militants. In 2012, Theo Padnos was captured in Syria and then freed after nearly two years of imprisonment and torture. A new documentary, Theo Who Lived, tells his story. There are new rules for how much time kids should spend in front of the iPad. Turns out a little time for kids under two-years-old is ok. In this week’s film roundup, some well-reviewed indies and a Tom Cruise blockbuster. There are seven casinos in LA County, but they aren’t the kind of places you’d find on the Vegas strip.

      The Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood reopens today after a major facelift. It’ll be part of the billion-dollar complex that will house the new LA Rams. It may be the biggest card club in the world. All seven LA County casinos have colorful histories and a diverse clientele and they rake in millions every year.
