When he was 16, Lindh converted to Islam, left his home in Marin County and traveled to Afghanistan. Now that he’s out of prison, he’ll be monitored closely so officials could see if he still has an affinity for radical Islam. Journalist Graeme Wood spoke with Lindh when he was in prison.
