    'Trimmigrants' claim abuse, trafficking at California's illegal pot farms

    The Emerald Triangle is a cluster of rural counties in the woods of Northern California. It’s also the Wild West of the marijuana industry. In harvest season, young people arrive at the pot farms there to trim the buds of marijuana plants.

    The Emerald Triangle is a cluster of rural counties in the woods of Northern California. It’s also the Wild West of the marijuana industry. In harvest season, young people arrive at the pot farms there to trim the buds of marijuana plants. It’s a good seasonal gig, but most growers are men and many of the trimmers are women, which means there is an environment for sexual exploitation. A new report by Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting explores the lives of ‘trimmigrants’ and reveals the sexual abuse some say they’ve been subjected to.
