Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti unveiled a long-term sustainability plan today that includes an ambitious goal: LA will get half of its water from local sources by 2035. Right now, most of the city’s water comes from other sources, often outside the state. This comes in the midst of dire drought news. In February, Californians cut back on their water use by only 3 percent compared to the same month two years ago. So now there are mandatory orders to cut back by 25 percent statewide.
