What does the partial exoneration of Trump mean for the media?

Many people on the left are disappointed with Robert Mueller’s report. There was a nearly two year buildup to it. Rolling Stone Journalist Matt Taibbi says the media is responsible for overselling and overhyping, and thus abrogated its responsibility to be fair. He says press coverage of the Russia investigation is similar to press coverage of the lead-up to the war in Iraq, when reporters repeated the false claim the Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.
