What Larry Wilmore’s cancellation says about late night TV
Late night TV has been criticized for being “too white” and it’s about to get even less colorful. Comedy Central announced Monday that The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore will air its final episode on Thursday. Wilmore, who’s from the LA area originally, was anointed by Jon Stewart back in 2014 to take over Stephen Colbert’s old time slot.

The show’s somewhat surprise cancellation speaks to a late night field that is crowded, competitive, and fragmented in a way it has never been before.
