World Politics on Campus, Trigger Warnings & Climate Change
Middle East politics at UCLA, trigger warnings, rising sea levels, and our new parenting segment "We Need to Talk About the Children."
Students’ stances on Israel recently became a big campaign issue in the undergraduate student council elections at UCLA. We look at why, and why some students are left feeling unfairly penalized. Next up, we introduce our new parenting segment, “We Need to Talk About the Children” with Slate podcaster and dad Mike Pesca. Then we discuss trigger warnings on educational material: Should universities warn students about potentially offensive material in books or films used in the classroom? And finally, scientists say it’s now too late to stop the melting of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. What will the world look like if sea levels rise 10 feet?
