    You could call Lakewood/Long Beach the cradle of Major League Baseball —the area’s high schools seem to produce more MLB players than anyone (48 and counting!). It all starts with Little League. Nina is a 9-year-old star on the Lakewood Village Marlins, one of a handful of girls in her division. And she’s a survivor. When she says she’s going to the majors, it’s hard not to believe her.
