In Ventura, first amendment advocates faced off against those wanting to secure their own right to a safe and happy life. This happened during a public comment period when the Ventura County Fairgrounds board discussed continuing to host gun shows at the fairgrounds.

“There are a lot of people really passionate about this issue,” said Arlene Martinez a reporter for the Ventura County Star. The police were even called at one point when a member of the public felt threatened.

Ultimately, the board that oversees the state-owned fairgrounds voted 5-3 in favor of hosting three more shows this year.
