    '1600 Penn'

1600 Penn is a family comedy set in the White House. It features Josh Gad (Book of Mormon star) who co-created it with our guests, Jason Winer and Jon Lovett. Winer is an old TV hand who's directed episodes of New Girl as well as the pilot and many subsequent episodes of Modern Family. But this is Lovett's first Hollywood gig.

Winer is an old TV hand who's directed episodes of New Girl as well as the pilot and many subsequent episodes of Modern Family. But this is Lovett's first Hollywood gig. He comes to the TV business directly from the White House. He was a speechwriter for President Obama for three years. Before that wrote for Hillary Clinton for three years during her Senate reelection and presidential campaigns. While writing for Obama he had a hand in some of the famed Donald Trump jokes. Lovett and Winer talk about the culture clash between Hollywood and DC and how they found a way to work together.
