The Academy Museum, the building with the giant glass dome on the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax, is finally open. Museum president Bill Kramer says it was a long time coming.

“When the Academy was founded in the late 1920s, they said, ‘Let’s build a film museum.’ So this has been going on for almost a century. And we’ve had a lot of twists and turns over the past decade plus.”

Kramer takes KCRW on a whirlwind tour through exhibits that cover all aspects of the movie business, and feature lots of fun stuff too, including ruby red slippers, the typewriter used to write “Psycho,” Leo’s “Revenant” body cast, and even the famous Rosebud.
