Bobcat Goldthwait on 'Call Me Lucky'

For years, Bobcat Goldthwait wanted to make a movie about his mentor, Barry Crimmins. A stand-up comic with a taste for sharp political satire, Crimmins became an activist who testified before Congress, taking on AOL over the proliferation of child pornography on the Internet. Goldthwait tells how the film came together with help from his best friend Robin Williams.

Comedian Bobcat Goldthwait may be known for his...distinctive style of stand-up in the 1980's and 90's, but today he spends most of his time behind the camera as a director. Call Me Lucky is his third film to go to Sundance. The documentary explores the life and troubled times of his mentor, comedian and activist Barry Crimmins. Call Me Lucky was partly funded by Goldthwait's good friend Robin Williams. Goldthwait tells us about that special friendship, and how his own career has evolved from his Police Academy days.
