Joe Adalian, West coast editor of Vulture.com joins Michael Schneider to discuss top entertainment news stories of the week.

  • Universal is on quite the hot streak

Straight Outta Compton, the NWA biopic that made $60 million opening weekend and is expected to continue to do well. With hits like

    Jurassic World and

Minions, the studio has made $5 billion at the global box office this year faster than any other studio in history.

  • On the other hand, Warner Bros is having a much tougher time. For many years, Warners was king of the summer box office, but this year has been a struggle.

  • Media stocks continue to take a battering on Wall Street. Stocks in companies like Disney and Time Warner slipped yet again as ad revenue drops and cable continue to have a soft summer in terms of traditional ratings, even though there have been several good, buzz-worthy shows.
