- The Comcast and Time Warner merger is officially dead. The giant cable companies tried to argue that a merger would actually be good for consumers, but government regulators said not so fast.

- Verizon FiOS announces that they'll let customers put together smaller, personalized cable packages. It's not quite ala carte, but it's moving in that direction, perhaps in anticipation of the new "skinny" bundles Apple TV will start offering this summer.

- The big crowd-pleasers at this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas were Tom Cruise doing stunts on an airplane for the latest Mission Impossible movie and a screening of Pixar's Inside Out, which had audiences tearing up. Warner Bros is coming out with an ambitious nine movies this summer, but at this point, none of them are guaranteed box office mega-hits.
