Brooks Barnes, Hollywood reporter for The New York Times, joins Matt Belloni, editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter, to discuss top entertainment news stories of the week.

    • One after another, comedies have tanked at the box office this summer. Viewers seem content to get their laughs at home, via Netflix, or if they’re looking to see something funny in theaters, they’re more likely to go for a Marvel movie or Disney reboot, instead of a standalone comedic film.

    • A massive deal is underway between WarnerMedia and Bad Robot, the production company run by J.J. Abrams and his wife Katie McGrath. The deal could be worth as much as $500 million

and would be a game changer for WarnerMedia as it works to bulk up with enough content to compete against the likes of Netflix and Disney Plus.
