Before getting tapped to direct Hitchcock, Sacha Gervasi had only one directing credit-- the 2008 documentary Anvil: The Story of Anvil. So he was an unlikely choice to helm a biopic starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren. But Producer Tom Pollock, a partner in the Montecito Picture Company and former chairman of Universal Studios, was sold that this guy -- who had a strong career as a screenwriter -- could do it. Then Gervasi tells how he wooed Anthony Hopkins and how the two had had an unusual encounter twenty years earlier.
