    An election happened in California this week, and only a few people showed up. Last Tuesday was primary election day in a handful of states across the country, including California, where candidates from both parties were on the ballot in a new, open primary. There were some local races of interest in Southern California… and some surprises. Gene Maddaus, reporter for the LA Weekly, and Seema Mehta of the Los Angeles Times join KCRW's Steve Chiotakis to talk all about it.
