LAPD Officers Reinstated After Mistaken-ID Shooting

It's been a year to the day since Los Angeles Police officers opened fire on a pickup truck in Torrance that they thought was the truck of ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner. Dorner had been fired from the force, written an internet manifesto alleging a culture of discrimination and intimidation, and went on a killing spree against those he believed was behind his firing. The pickup truck was actually the wrong make and color - and was occupied by two Latina women who were delivering newspapers at the time. 71-year old Emma Hernandez was hit; her daughter Margie Carranza was injured from flying glass. And now LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and the LA Police Commission have ruled those eight officers violated department policy on the use of deadly force when they opened fire. Joel Rubin has been following this story for the LA Times, and spoke with KCRW's Steve Chiotakis.
