How do you make a sequel to one of the most talked-about romances of all time? If you're

Chris Weitz (

American Pie, About a Boy, The Golden Compass) making

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

, you stick to the text. We get a read on him.

Weitz discusses the controversies behind the making and re-editing of The Golden Compass, and his subsequent faithful adaptation of the novel on which New Moon is based. He also discusses how the film was shot, how cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe gave the film its own visual style, the choreographed use of CGI and inclusion of real sunlight to make the vampires sparkle, as well as the tribal aspect of his films -- from the boys and girls in American Pie to the vampires and werewolves in New Moon.
