Ever since he can remember, Dave Karger has had a life-long passion for the movies. He has managed to turn that passion into a successful career at Entertainment Weekly, where for 18 years he has gradually emerged as the go-to guru for all things Oscars. This year, he will also be welcoming the nominees as the official red carpet greeter at the awards. From the red carpet welcomes he will dash backstage, where Oscar.com has put him to work as the first person to interview each winner the moment after they accept their award. It's the busiest time of year for Karger, but he graciously found the time to swing by KCRW and talk to Elvis about the shoe-ins and possible surprises this year, as well as why he thinks the Academy gravitates towards certain kinds of films, and away from others.
