"Survivor has been really good to me," says Jeff Probst, who has hosted the show for the past thirteen years. It's taken him everywhere from Fiji to the Amazon to Palau, but more than that, it's been like attending thirteen years of storytelling school. "What's so great about Survivor is you are writing, just in a different way," says Probst, and he's applied that to his passion for writing and directing. He recently self-financed his second feature film, Kiss Me, starring Emily Osment, Jenna Fischer, and John Corbett. He's also telling stories in the most literal sense, with Stranded, a trilogy of novels for kids that is loosely based on Survivor. He talks about why he decided to bankroll his latest film all by himself, plus, the secret to a great reality show.
