Organizing chaos and finding surprise in an enterprise that demands consistency are contradictions that attract director

    Ken Loach (

Kes, Hidden Agenda, Cathy Come Home, My Name is Joe, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Sweet Sixteen, Bread and Roses) in his newest film,

Looking for Eric. See what turns up in his search.

The film is a heartfelt tale about a man whose life is in utter disarray, until the surprise appearance of his footballing idol, Eric Cantona, whose wisdom and philosophy helps to guide him out of the morass. Loach compares his role as a director to that of a football manager, discusses his preference for real locations and actor-designer collaboration, and the role of family as a vehicle for learning about trust, betrayal and love. He also reveals how the guiding inner voice of footballer Eric Cantona helps the lead character unite in solidarity with his co-workers, an ethos that the Margaret Thatcher-era tore apart.
