Elvis Mitchell hosts writer Mikal Gilmore, who has covered and criticized rock & roll and its culture and issue as music editor for the 'LA Weekly' and the 'LA Herald Examiner,' and , for twenty years, as a staff writer for 'Rolling Stone' magazine. His first book, "Shot in the Heart," won the LA Times Book Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. His current book, "Night Beat," covers the history of rock and roll.
