Writer/director Nicholas Jarecki joins Elvis to talk about Arbitrage, his second feature film, starring Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon. Gere plays Wall Street mogul Richard Miller, a slick shark sliding through the streets of New York in perfectly tailored suits. After surviving a devastating car wreck, Miller's compartmentalized and controlled reality begins to unravel, putting everything he values at stake. Jarecki enthusiastically discusses everything from Russian literature to the intricacies of breaking into the film industry, a process he researched in depth for his book, Breaking In: How 20 Film Directors Got Their Start. He also describes how being a former computer hacker led to a fateful encounter with Angelina Jolie that left him certain he would be a director.
