While brainstorming ideas for his new book, actor and humorist Nick Offerman made a list of great Americans, from George Washington to Willie Nelson to Yoko Ono to Conan O'Brien. The Parks and Recreation star then realized that there was one adhering quality, the glue that brings these people together: gumption. Gumption, the follow up to his New York Times Bestseller Paddle Your Own Canoe, humorously highlights twenty-one figures from our nation's history - Offerman's "personal pantheon of Great Americans." He talks about growing up in small town Illinois, and his first experiences being exposed to different races, religions and cultures. Plus, how he achieves balance between the spiritual and the physical.
