Today, after years of investigation and extensive negotiations over a possible plea bargain, he was indicted by a federal grand jury in his home state for using unreported financial contributions to help his campaign. The government says almost a million dollars went to keep secret Edwards' extramarital affair with a campaign worker he impregnated. Legal experts predict an ugly trial.
