Milosevic Trial Opens at The Hague

It's opening day of the war-crimes trial of Slobodan Milosevic, the only head of state ever indicted for war crimes while in office. The former Yugoslav and Serbian leader, who has elected to defend himself, wants to call Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair and former US President Bill Clinton to testify on his behalf. Whatever the outcome, the system of international justice itself will also be on trial. Will the trial become a showcase for international justice or a show trial? We hear from The Hague, Belgrade and legal experts around the world about the potential consequences for the former head of state and the process of international justice. Newsmaker: FBI Warns of Possible Terrorist Attack For the fourth time since September 11, the FBI has warned that a terrorist attack could occur in the US or against US interests. But for the first time, the warning included a suspect and a date. Paul Koring, Washington correspondent for Toronto's The Globe and Mail, warns about the danger of complacency in the face of repeated government warnings. Reporter's Notebook: Academy Award Nominations-Bought or Earned? With Oscar nominations in, the politicking begins. Lord of the Rings earned 13 Academy Award nominations, A Beautiful Mind and Moulin Rouge tied for second with 8. Awards will be given out on March 24. Variety film critic, Emanuel Levy, is an expert on movie marketing and the politics of the Hollywood film industry.
