Scientists Clone Human Embryos

The cloning of human embryos by South Korean researchers has reignited debate about how to regulate human cloning. No reputable scientist wants to make artificial babies. But, there is heated disagreement about producing the stem cells that might lead to treatments for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, diabetes, and heart disease. The Catholic Church is among those calling it murder; but others argue it's wrong to prohibit curing the un-curable. As other nations move into a Brave New World, we'll look at the options for the United States. Making News: Wisconsin Primaries Tomorrow Despite widespread predictions that John Kerry has sewn up the Democratic nomination, other candidates are still on the hunt for votes in Wisconsin, which holds its primary tomorrow. We speak with Craig Gilbert, Washington Bureau Chief for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, but he-s been on the campaign trail since Iowa. Reporter's Notebook: Does Gay Marriage Spell the End of Straight Marriage? "Marriage is disappearing in Scandanavia, and the forces undermining it there are active throughout the West." That's the contention of Stanley Kurtz, a fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institution, writing in the conservative magazine, The Weekly Standard. And, Kurtz contends that one reason for the decline of heterosexual marriage is the increase in same-sex marriage.
