    Self-Help in America

    Despite the best of intentions, New Year's resolutions are often broken almost as soon as they're made. But, now an entire industry has sprung up to help us attain our goals. With books, CD's, videotapes and personal coaching, does the self-help movement offer us more than we need? We ask self-help authors, spiritualists, and critics. (Sara Terry, of The Christian Science Monitor guest hosts.) Newsmaker: EU Adopts Anti-Terrorist Measures Today in Brussels, the European Union adopted a sweeping package of anti-terrorism measures that allows the EU's fifteen member countries to better coordinate their efforts against terrorists. Steven Erlanger, Berlin bureau chief for The New York Times, has the latest. Reporter's Notebook: New York City Nonprofit Rebuilds near Ground Zero One of the victims of September 11 was Helen Keller Worldwide, an international blindness prevention agency founded in 1915. After its offices and 86 years of work in blindness prevention were destroyed on September 11, the organization is struggling to get back on its feet. President John Palmer says that, despite the agency's tragic loss, staff and volunteers have emerged "recommitted and renewed."
