Suspected Terrorists and Guantanamo Bay

The first prisoner to face a military tribunal at Guantanamo Bay during the Obama Administration will be Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the alleged mastermind of the bombing of the US destroyer Cole in 2000, which killed 17 American sailors. President Obama says he still wants to close Guantanamo, but that Republicans have tied his hands. The President's latest moves have effectively formalized the indefinite detention he criticized as a candidate. Some inmates have been held at Guantanamo for more than ten years.
