Europe's worst massacre since World War II began approximately 17 years ago today, when Serbian forces entered the United Nations–protected City of Srebrenica in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Some 8000 men and boys were separated from women, murdered and buried in mass graves.

Bodies are still being discovered in mass graves, and 520 were re-buried today. Aida Cerkez reports on the Balkans for the Associated Press.
