    Bruno de Almeida

Tom-s guest this Sunday on Cafe LA is Bruno de Almeida, director of the new film THE ART OF AMALIA, a fine documentary about Portugal's greatest diva, Amalia Rodrigues. Rodrigues started singing as a young girl, in street vendor stalls, where she worked to help her mother. Throughout her life and rise to international fame, she lifted fado, or Portuguese blues, out of obscurity, putting it on the map, much like what Ravi Shankar did for Indian music or Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan did for Sufi music. The interview will run at l p.m.
