Chai Vasarhelyi is the director of the award-winning documentary film Youssou N’Dour: I Bring What I Love, a film about the famous Senegalese superstar and his trials, tribulations, and triumphs in the making of his Grammy-winning cd Egypt. It is a deeply moving portrait of Africa’s most famous contemporary musician, whose career had been championed by Peter Gabriel, Bono, and many others. It is a sweeping documentary that not only captures him as an international superstar but also shows him as a deeply loving father and family man, a hero in his village as well as the African diaspora.
