This week Rhythm Planet celebrates Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu's Sonic Dreamscapes.

Influenced by Debussy and Olivier Messaien, Takemitsu in turn influenced John Cage as well as j-pop icon Ryuichi Sakamoto. Among other musical gems, we'll hear the ultra-rare soundtrack of Legacy for the Future, a television series soundtrack from the 1980s that was never issued outside of Japan. We'll also hear one of his arrangements of a Beatles classic.
