Luzer Twersky grew up within Hasidic communities in New York and London. At the age of 23, he decided to leave the only community he had ever known, and make a new life in the secular world. He left behind a wife, and was ostracized by his family. He had no work experience or conventional education. He had never been on a date. Independent producer Joshua Gleason followed Luzer during the first year of his attempt to reinvent himself. In this episode we listen to Luzer's story and hear from the producer about how this documentary came to be.

This story was produced by Joshua Gleason, he's at joshuawgleason.com.

was originally broadcast by Vox Tablet, the podcast of Tablet magazine, at Tabletmag.org.
