    California Courts Facing a Big Budget Shortfall

    All over California, courthouses are being called unsafe after 12 years of insufficient maintenance. A new law levies fees on convictions, civil lawsuits and parking tickets to raise money for repairs and construction. But the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the biggest court in the nation, wants to divert that cash to administration.
