Candidates for LA's Second Council District

Secession, blight and campaign spending are just some of the issues dividing three candidates in next Tuesday's special election to replace Joel Wachs on the LA City Council. The 2nd District, located in the East San Fernando Valley, is bounded by Studio City, Van Nuys and Sunland-Tujunga. Billboard companies, Indian tribes and the entertainment business are pouring big money into two of the campaigns. We speak with State Assemblyman Tony Cardenas, businessman Jamie Cordaro and Dream Works official Wendy Greuel, just a week before voters go to the polls. Newsmaker: Olson Fails at Attempt to Withdraw Guilty Plea Did Sara Jane Olson's lawyer bully her into pleading guilty to a crime she didn't commit? On Friday, Olson was scheduled to get a sentence of 5 years to life. Today, she was in court again, trying to withdraw her plea so she can go to trial. Dan Whitcomb, of Reuters News Service, says that the judge was not responsive to her request.
