Democratic Support, GOP Opposition to Props 57 and 58

The first TV spot for Propositions 57 and 58 shows Republican Governor Schwarzenegger and Democratic Controller Steve Westly literally completing each others sentences. But polls show that bipartisan spirit has not caught on with the voters. Schwarzenegger got a boost today from Senator Dianne Feinstein and the leadership of the state-s Democratic Party, which endorsed Props 57 and 58 on next month-s ballot. But neither California voters nor Republican State Senator Tom McClintock are going along with Schwarzenegger-s financial rescue package for California, and the Democrat who defeated McClintock to become State Controller is on Schwarzenegger-s side.
