Jerry Brown was elected to the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees in 1969. A year later, voters made him Secretary of State. Next, it was two terms as Governor, from 1974 until 1982. Then, he spent two terms as Mayor of Oakland, and he was elected state Attorney General in 2006.
