Mass transit needs frequency, reliability and access to job centers. That's all it will take to transform drivers into riders of busses, streetcars and trains. That's the mantra behind high density development in LA and elsewhere. Turns out, that's wrong, according to a comprehensive study of the matter by the Neighborhood Travel and Activities Study at UC Irvine, where Steven Spears is an assistant project scientist.
