Gentrification of the Venice Art Landscape

Tourists and Southern Californians heading to the 23rd annual Venice Art Walk may be in for a shock. The first art walk was a fundraiser for the Venice Health Clinic, as it is today, and followed a path through less than a dozen artist's homes. This weekend's event includes about 50, scattered amid a proliferation of lofts that are great for those with property owners, bad for those seeking the laid-back feel of decades past. We look at changing lifestyles, artist lofts and the gentrification of Venice with real estate developer Jack Hoffman, and visual artist Francisco Letelier, a second generation Venetian. Managing Editor Kyle McKinnon guest hosts. Reporter's Notebook: Kings for a Day The Lakers are two steps away from another world championship, but first they must get past the Sacramento Kings, a team long-considered a doormat in the basketball world. We ask one of the "kids" running the Kings, co-owner Joe Maloof.
