    Governor Brown Sworn in for Unprecedented Fourth Term

    Beginning his fourth term as California’s Governor today, Jerry Brown touched on familiar issues — also making a big new commitment to renewable energy. His extended family crowded the balcony of the Assembly Chamber as he recalled seeing his father sworn in to the same office 56 years ago to the day.  But Brown’s positions on potential controversies remain to be clarified.

    Beginning his fourth term as California’s Governor today, Jerry Brown touched on familiar issues — also making a big new commitment to renewable energy. His extended family crowded the balcony of the Assembly Chamber as he recalled seeing his father sworn in to the same office 56 years ago to the day. But Brown’s positions on potential controversies remain to be clarified.

    Also, violent crime is down in Los Angeles, and the streets are safer. Are street gangs disappearing, or have they just gone underground?

      Jerry Brown today combined this year's state-of-the-state speech with his fourth inaugural address as Governor of California.  He remembered that it was 56 years to the day since he saw his father, Pat Brown, sworn in to the same office. Brown himself has been Secretary of State and Attorney General.
