Governor Schwarzenegger and Medical Care for the Poor

An improving economy is providing more taxes, and Governor Schwarzenegger has rescinded tuition increases for university students. Now, he wants to spend $4 billion new dollars for K-12 education and to borrow billions more for infrastructure repair and construction. For the poorest of all Californians, though, the news is not so good. A 5% cut in Medi-Cal reimbursements may drive doctors out of the program--and their patients into emergency rooms that are over-crowded already. We look at the impact of Medi-Cal cuts on the rest of the healthcare system with the medical industry, the head of California's Medi-Cal program and those who care for the state's poorest patients
